Year 1 Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop

Year 1 parents and pupils enjoyed a Pip and Pap Phonics workshop together today, reading Green Phase Book "The Phantom" together!

Pupils taught parents the grapheme-phoneme correspondences in the book, before recapping key words together, such as:

/w/ spelt 'wh' as in 'whizzing'

/f/ spelt 'ph' as in 'phantom'

/y+oo/ and /short oo/ spelt 'ew' as in 'phew' and 'threw'

/oa/ spelt 'oe' as in 'tiptoe'

/or/ spelt 'au' as in 'saunter'

/ee/ spelt 'ey', as in 'alley'

Then, parents and pupils made their own 'phantom' houses, using black sugar paper and yellow card. Aren't they wonderful?

We run Pip and Pap workshops for parents and pupils every other week at Holy Family. Please ask your child's class teacher for more details. All are welcome!
