Pip and Pap Phonics Workshops Y1

A big thank you to all Year 1 parents that came along to our Year 1 Pip and Pap Phonics workshop today!

Children shared the Green Phase reading book "The Hawk," exploring the grapheme-phoneme correspondences /oy/ /ir/ /ue/ and /aw/! In this story, a hawk snatches the Queen's crown! Luckily, Kom the cop and his partner Lor are around to save the day!

The children then sounded out and blended words in the story, including 'royal', 'employee', 'value', 'claws', 'first', 'blue', 'annoy', and 'pursue'!

They then made their own 'hawks' with their parents, using their handprints, sugar paper and craft materials. Aren't they fabulous?

Look out for more workshops happening in school soon.
