As part of our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, we have had the pleasure of working with Victoria, Phil, Zack and Jo from Caritas. Caritas are a religious association inspired by the catholic faith, who work as the helping hand of the church to run social justice projects.
Firstly, they visited our school to deliver an exciting assembly showing us all the amazing projects they have already completed in many of the schools in the local area. Each class was then given an opportunity to explore and vote for different projects that they would like to carry out here at Holy Family. Some of the options that we explored were bird houses, wildlife ponds and herb gardens. We are so excited to find out what options generated the most votes by the children and begin working with Caritas on our projects. We are all creations of God and, as asked by Pope Francis in 2015 Laudato Si’, we all must care for our common home.
