Year 3 blog:

Year 3 had so much fun this week designing and creating pneumatic toys.

During the first part of the day, children learnt what a pneumatic mechanism is and where they might find them in everyday life. Pupils were then given a design brief, of planning a pneumatic animal toy, making one part of their animal move. Children enjoyed planning and then making a prototype. The prototype stage was tricky as the children had to try different ways to get the parts moving but they preserved and didn’t give up. We had regular pit stops to share successful learning and that helped everyone create a moving part.

In the afternoon, children used recycled materials to make an animal with a moving part. Well done Year 3!
