Advent Liturgy

On Monday the 4th of December, we welcomed Father Benjamin into school to help us mark the beginning of the Liturgical Season of Advent.

The Year 5 and 6 children experienced a special time of prayer and reflection as they participated in a number of Advent prayer stations, led by the pupil chaplains. One of the stations focused on the Advent theme of peace, where the children reflected on who in the world needs their prayers of peace right now, such as those facing conflict and hard times. They wrote the names of these people onto a leaf which was then carefully hung onto a peace tree so we can continue to pray for these people throughout the season of Advent. This was then followed by a special Advent Liturgy for the rest of the school, where they uncovered the symbolism of the Advent wreath and lit the first candle of Hope.

Thank you to all the child readers and pupil chaplains for helping to lead such a special time of prayer and reflection to mark the start of Advent.
