Year 1 Update.

It may be the start of a new academic year but our Year 1 children have been so working hard and have already made a great start to learning in Year 1, enjoying many new learning opportunities and challenges!

We’ve been looking through our telescopes, reading our treasure maps and raising our sails as we have become pirates! AHOY! We have explored different pirate clothing and loved making our own pirate hats, in order to try and win the pirate competition set by pirate Jim and his crew. Throughout this riveting experience, we have come up with a range of descriptive words we can use in our writing in hope we can win the competition. Let’s hope there’s some treasure for the winner!

In Science, linked to exploring a variety of descriptive words, we have started to use our senses to describe a range of objects, materials and foods. To begin our learning, we explored the human body and were able to label different body parts. We have learnt how amazing our bodies can be, what body parts can do and how we can use them in different ways for different activities. Our hands come in handy to steer the pirate ship!
